Dormer Bungalow, 1,290sq ft – Fuel Saving and Increased Heat
Case study on a home with the Fusion Elite solar central heating system installed mid April 2013. This study makes an analysis of the improvement in comfort in the home and the cost saving to the home owner.
History of Heat in the House
A home energy survey was conducted on the home and the homes owners experience of heat in the home was discusses.
The home was getting on average 3 hours of heat per day; this was typical an hour in the morning and a two hours in the evening. The 3 hours of heat was only taking the cold out of the house but was never heating it.
There was a very high electric bill with every one of the six family members showering each day primarily using the electric shower. The immersion was the only source of hot water during the summer months also adding to the electric bill. The €1,700 fuel spend is inclusive of heating oil an electric.
After Solar Central Heating Installed
A LTS Fusion Elite solar central heating system was installed mid April 2013 and the first notable difference from the system was ample hot water for all the family to shower. As the year progressed the family noted the significant improvement with the heat in the home. The table below shows the temperature in the home on a typical winter’s day as it is now with the Fusion Elite solar central heating compared to the temperature when heating with heating oil only.
